Milan striker Ronaldo has played down speculation he will move to Brazilian side Flamengo.

The former Brazilian's future with the Rossoneri has come under intense scrutiny recently and he was believed to be on the verge of making a move back to his homeland.

But the 31-year-old, who featured in Milan's 2-0 friendly win over the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, insists he wants to stay with the European champions.

"It is true that Flamengo have shown an interest in me, but I have not spoken or written anything about this," Ronaldo told Milan's official website.

"My desire is to deserve an important place at Milan because this is the team I want to play for, the team that has always had confidence in me."

Ronaldo, whose contract with the Italian giants expires at the end of the season, has played just one competitive game in this campaign because of nagging leg injuries.
