Wycombe boss Peter Taylor has reacted angrily to suggestions that he wants to sell Mike Williamson after Colchester bid twice for the defender.

Colchester boss Paul Lambert - who was manager at Adams Park until the summer - has had two £100,000 bids for the defender rejected by Taylor and said this week: "I think Peter tried to offload him at the start of the season so how much does he rate him?"

But Taylor said: "From the moment I took the Wycombe job I was told by people whose opinions I respect that Mike Williamson is a top class player.

"As soon as I saw him play I realised why he is so highly rated.

"I know how highly Paul Lambert rates Willo so I don't know why they haven't increased their bid. The suggestion that I tried to offload him is as baffling to me as them coming in with the same offer twice within a month."
