The Premier League and the FA are to launch a fresh inquiry into West Ham's conduct over the Carlos Tevez affair.
The new investigation, into West Ham's dealings with the striker's representatives after the club had initially been fined £5.5 million for breaching league rules over third-party agreements, will be conducted jointly by the FA and the Premier League.
It follows the findings of an arbitration tribunal in favour of Sheffield United and against West Ham last year which decided Tevez should not have been able to play for the Hammers at the end of the 2006-07 season.
A joint statement said: "The Premier League and the FA are to institute a joint inquiry into the views expressed by the Independent Arbitral Tribunal chaired by Lord Griffiths in September 2008, which dealt with a compensation claim by Sheffield United against West Ham United brought under FA Rules.
"The joint inquiry will examine whether the conduct of West Ham United immediately after the Independent Disciplinary Commission's decision of 27 April 2007 amounted to further breaches of Premier League or FA Rules."
The inquiry means West Ham or individuals could face further disciplinary action but say they have nothing to hide from the new investigation.
A club statement said: "West Ham United will co-operate fully with the joint inquiry convened by the FA and Premier League.
"We have acted in good faith throughout the various inquiries and investigations into this matter and fulfilled the undertakings given to the Premier League following the initial penalty.
"We have nothing to hide and will ensure that this is once again reflected in our evidence to the FA and Premier League."

The point is no longer about if Tevez kept West Ham up or whether Sheffield United should sue West Ham or the Premiership. This is now about honesty and contract law. Did the then West Ham chairman lie. If he did then the punishment handed out was based on this lie and has ultimately cost Sheffield millions. Sheffield have a right be represented and protected from other clubs breaking the rule otherwise whats the point of a regulatory body. Also Tevez & Mascherano were offered to the big clubs first but their lawyers could see the deal was unsuitable immediately. West Ham were blagging from day one.

We got fined millions of pounds way back when... why bring it all up again???? the way the fa work they would be better off sorting are crime rate out in the uk
Work better than our police...............
Draw a line under this problem for christ sake, make sure it doesn't happen again, get rid of the crooks (Agents).
As supporters of all clubs we should ALL be very worried as this could spell trouble for a lot of clubs. Tevez is still owned by a third party, the third party who at this moment in time is an advisor for Man City. Doesnt look very good does it ?
Perhaps the time has come to ban agents full stop and let the pfa handle players moves
lets all look at the fa and fifa and the prem over the years how thay let leeds off for fielding a second team under don revie man utd to not play in the fa cup how much did the fa get history allways bites there bums but feels the old fart network with money and take a look around the west ham sarga and see how many people are on the make makes the trotter family saints!!
I feel west ham has been made a scapegoate over the Carlos Tevez affairs. sheffield united contributed to their own downfall in that tainted and corrupt 2006/07 season. on one evening in march 2007, sheffield united fielded a reserve team in a premiership match at old trafford against a tired and out of sort manchester team. the result. sheffied united lost 2-0 and warnock said he did not have to win at old trafford because he can get results against fellow struggling teams in the premiership. the fact is that you get 3 points when and where you can and not choose where to win and loose matches as that will be a fix. we all know manchester united went on undeservely to win the league and deliberately lost the last game against west ham in a deal to buy Tevez. the result, Tevez scored the only goal to give west ham a 1-0 win, west ham survived and Tevez went to old trafford. don't even get me talking about phil neville delibrate own goal to help manchester united to 3 points against everton. talk about the english football being honest? the best and fair punishment is to compensate chelsea who came second in that season and NOT to pay sheffield united a penny.
In a court of law u cannot be tried for the same crime twice.
Why should it be different in football?
this has been going on long enough, bury it.
All this is getting out of hand. West Ham have been fined. If the problem was third party ownership, then Man U should be fined as Tevez is still owned by Kia's firm. If the problem was failure to disclose information then the FA want a good kick up the back side because the papers were reporting the Kia, third party ownership business from the moment Tevez and co turned up. This needs to be sorted now. Once and for all.

Paddy, post 97, firstly, you need to learn how to spell, secondly, I`d relish the chance to turn over you Millwall mugs at your own ground.....again!
I think this is a shabby affair. As a neutral I consider Sheffield United's action to be sour grapes and quite unsporting. The problem with football nowadays is that there is too much money involved, with the result that teams cheat on and off the field.

Ronaldo issued a statement about yesterday's crash, The wall wasn't 10 yards away...
This saga has run and run. However, if it is really established that West Ham did break the rules (and Sheffiels United should feel justified in their claim) the only way out now is to penalise them with a points deficit. A fine would do nothing. Deduct 15 points- I know Luton, Leeds and Bournemouth have suffered- so the big boys should also be penalised and sorry, but it has to be West Ham.
How long does it take the FA to sort out this problem?
101 What is a 'pidar'?
Not the point ...bb....if the rules have been broken the punishment should fit the crime
Sheffield got relegated over a season not the last few games. West Ham were in the wrong, got fined and this is going on way too long. Do the Sheff supporters think a higher 'pay-off' will get them back to the PL? I think not. The Hammers need to get this behind them so we can concentrate on what's a difficult season this year.
tevez is a pidar
