The Premier League and the FA are to launch a fresh inquiry into West Ham's conduct over the Carlos Tevez affair.
The new investigation, into West Ham's dealings with the striker's representatives after the club had initially been fined £5.5 million for breaching league rules over third-party agreements, will be conducted jointly by the FA and the Premier League.
It follows the findings of an arbitration tribunal in favour of Sheffield United and against West Ham last year which decided Tevez should not have been able to play for the Hammers at the end of the 2006-07 season.
A joint statement said: "The Premier League and the FA are to institute a joint inquiry into the views expressed by the Independent Arbitral Tribunal chaired by Lord Griffiths in September 2008, which dealt with a compensation claim by Sheffield United against West Ham United brought under FA Rules.
"The joint inquiry will examine whether the conduct of West Ham United immediately after the Independent Disciplinary Commission's decision of 27 April 2007 amounted to further breaches of Premier League or FA Rules."
The inquiry means West Ham or individuals could face further disciplinary action but say they have nothing to hide from the new investigation.
A club statement said: "West Ham United will co-operate fully with the joint inquiry convened by the FA and Premier League.
"We have acted in good faith throughout the various inquiries and investigations into this matter and fulfilled the undertakings given to the Premier League following the initial penalty.
"We have nothing to hide and will ensure that this is once again reflected in our evidence to the FA and Premier League."

i support Sheff United, have done for 42 years.
i'm not bothered if we profit from any court judgements, upset anybody at the top or (highly unlikely) get reinstated to a money grabbing division we couldnt stay in because we lost to Wigan on the last day.
the black and white of this is that West Ham broke the rules and for whatever reason did not get the deserved punishment that a so called 'more unfahionable club' (i.e. one outside the capital) would have had.
i would love this story to end, West Ham get docked at least 20 points, get relegated and let us have a go at them next season!!!
is this ever going to end it hasd been going on for a long time
cheating is cheating, wet spam got cought, but they didnt get punished.
like other clubs would have been ie swindon luton leeds. maybe its the lovable cockneys or trevor brooking on the board. if it had been vis a versa, you can bet your life sheffield would have been docked 20 points/ but wet spam 5 mill your havin a laff. every relegation team would cheat to stay in the prem if the punishment was going to be 5 mill. see u at the den next season hamas vermin scum
I think the FA should be chased after in court by Sheff Utd, West ham may of got away with a small fine.........but surely the FA was at fault for doing this?? At the end of the day West Ham recieved a punishment from them.
its absolute BOLOX and everyone knows it.
Why fine West ham, these amounts are paid in bungs, stupid wages etc, it's peanuts. Being in the premiere is the only concern to them.
Why do the FA pander to clubs, especially a club like West Ham that are second rate. It's because they are surrounded by sentimental support because of location and the past.
How could they preserve West hams status, but dock points from Luton Town as they did last year. Yes the details are different, but surely losing money is not comarable to fraud.
Not another one....why is this sage rolling around still two years on? Surely this year West Ham will be relegated, so why chase them financially? Their team is almost out of funds and the clubs finances are shivering in fear of collapse. Why bother?
Re. 76.
The Criminal Justice Act 2003 allows for a retrial if there is new and compelling evidence.
asundram, Ronaldo playing well? honestly, i am a Man Utd fan but as of late he has not been up to his usual standard.
tomas-Americano you are wrong
West Ham cheated that is the truth
They should have had their points docked.
Not fined 5.5 Mill but paid 50 Mil to stay in premier League
P. L were coerced by the London Influence to keep West Ham in.
I do not support Sheffield
BUT DO BELIEVE CHEATING MUST BE PUNISHED.
Maybe falsification is accepted in the Americas
but do we need it here.
Perhaps the Icelandic ethics that worked for West Ham
Lets try to be honest for a change.
Has this digging up old tales something to do with Ferguson's attempt to discredit Tevez. I don't trust that guy. He used him when he needed him badly and now that he has Berbetov, Rooney and Ronaldo playing well, he is ready to dump poor Tevez.
Are they trying to flog a dead horse? West Ham have already been punished for this Tevez affair. Do they have fresh information that proves otherwise? What is wrong with these retards at the FA and PL? Don't they have other important matters to address like the refereeing and how best to deal with financial crisis that may really hurt the English leagues.
3rd time is valid comment!
rosenglish, i got 2 invalid comments trying for agreeing with you.
When I go down on my wife her @#$% is so hairy it reminds me of being given a kiss goodbye by my bearded grandfather when I was young, (no he was not a pedo) is this valid comment? Because everything else I have to say isn't
Friends, put aside all the grammar problems. We're talking football here. This site is not only viewed by English but I think from all over the world. We all have differences, be it language, race or religions but we have one thing in common that is our love for football. So just talk football, with good english or broken english (I can still understand).
Me? I not English and I'm from Malaysia.

tomas.americano: in the real world you would end up in the high court for libel for such an outrageous statement but yes, I agree, in principle at least!
The high courts should investigate the FA and the Prem. It seems like Sheffield United has a position on both boards. Enough already! I hope Sheffield United never see the Premier League again. Ever! West Ham is a quality side with a great history. The Prem needs clubs like West Ham. Looks like the FA needs some new blood.
