Substitute Adebayo Akinfenwa grabbed his second goal in as many games to earn Northampton a deserved 1-1 draw against promotion-chasing Leeds.Just as he did against Swindon last week, Akinfenwa came off the bench to earn a point and extend Northampton's unbeaten run to six games.
Leeds created the early chances with Jermaine Beckford wasting two openings, shooting tamely at goalkeeper Mark Bunn midway through the half and then allowing defender Brett Johnson to make a last gasp challenge to halt the striker's run into the box.
Jonathan Hayes and Ryan Gilligan went close before Jonathan Howson gave Leeds a 38th-minute lead, converting Bradley Johnson's pinpoint cross.
Akinfenwa went close in the 57th minute after bursting into the box but he was not to be denied and equalised in the 75th minute, forcing the ball home from Poul Hubertz's cross.
Both sides went close late on, Hayes had another shot blocked for a corner and Brett Johnson came to Northampton's rescue, heading off the line from Beckford.
