Christian Poulsen's stoppage time goal earned 10-man Juventus a 2-1 win away to Catania.
Striker Vincenzo Iaquinta fired Juve ahead on 11 minutes but was almost immediately dismissed having taken off his shirt to celebrate before committing a foul for a second yellow card.
Ten-man Juve were forced to defend with returning goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon in fine form but he could do nothing about Takayuki Morimoto's equaliser after the break. Denmark midfielder Poulsen had the last word, however, with his goal.
Roma 3-0 Genoa
Roma moved level on points with Genoa thanks to a stunning display.
Right back Cicinho, an injury doubt before kickoff, finished off a fine move involving Francesco Totti and Simone Perrotta on 26 minutes before Mirko Vucinic scored soon after the restart with an exquisite finish.
Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini was sent to the stands at halftime for dissent and Giuseppe Sculli was later dismissed while Roma winger Rodrigo Taddei saw red early in the second period after receiving two bookings. Julio Baptista scored the third goal in injury time.
Cagliari 0-1 Atalanta
Luca Cigarini showed home specialists Atalanta could also win away when he blasted in from distance midway through the second half.
Cagliari had been one of the form sides in the league after a strong run but were second-best following Diego Lopez's dismissal late in the first half for picking up two yellows.
Fiorentina 1-0 Lazio
Italy striker Alberto Gilardino scored on the rebound in the 90th minute to send Fiorentina up to fourth.
Lazio had looked set to get a hard-fought draw having lost Lorenzo De Silvestri to a second yellow card on 18 minutes.
Sampdoria 2-2 Siena
Forward Massimo Maccarone grabbed a point for Siena 11 minutes from time as Samp's disappointing season continued.
The visitors went in front thanks to Simone Vergassola taking advantage of a defensive mistake before Claudio Bellucci equalised on the rebound just before halftime.
Former Fiorentina forward Giampaolo Pazzini netted for Samp on 51 minutes after good work by Antonio Cassano but Maccarone scored at the near post to take a share of the spoils.
Torino 1-1 Chievo
A draw did little to help the two strugglers, who remain in the bottom three.
Nicola Ventola gave the hosts the lead midway through the second half after a breakaway but fellow substitute Vincenzo Italiano levelled the scores late on with a fierce effort from the edge of the area.
Udinese 1-0 Bologna
Alexis Sanchez gave the hosts a last-gasp victory after dribbling past two players and firing home.
Udinese, who had gone 11 league games without a win, have taken seven points from their last three Serie A games.
Palermo 2-1 Napoli
Palermo climbed above Napoli into seventh after a battling win on a heavy pitch.
Giulio Migliaccio put the Sicilians ahead after two minutes when he volleyed in a corner and Brazilian midfielder Simplicio made it 2-0 on 14 minutes after great work by Fabrizio Miccoli.
Marek Hamsik pulled one back for the visitors before the break with a superb angled drive but Palermo comfortably took the honours.
