Sun 09 Mar, 07:30 PM

Wigan midfielder Michael Brown described Sunday's goalless Premier League draw with Arsenal as crucial to his side's survival hopes.Latics secured their first ever league point against the Gunners with a dogged display at the JJB Stadium, edging a point closer to safety.

"It's a massive point for us, especially against Arsenal - such a fantastic team," Brown told Sky Sports.

"Credit to the boys, they kept going right to the end. It was a bit nervy at the end.

"We kept going and it takes us another few places up the league."

Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland praised the impact of manager Steve Bruce, saying: "Since the gaffer has come in, the lads have given him everything and performed brilliantly.

"We're all fighting for each other.

"We're in a tough situation but if we can stick together and give the gaffer what he wants then hopefully we'll be okay."
