Brentford manager Andy Scott admitted he got more than he bargained for with a late winnning goal to consign Macclesfield to a 1-0 defeat.Glenn Poole ghosted in at the far post to end a barren run of four straight defeats almost on the final whistle.
Brentford boss Andy Scott said: "Even if it had ended 0-0 I would have been reasonably happy. We created lost of chances and kept a clean sheet.
"We made at least five or six opportunities which on another day with another keeper might have gone in.
"But I love clean sheets and I was delighted with the way we played at the back."
The Bees bossed the game from start to finish, but it looked like their luck was out in front of goal thanks to some breathtaking stops from Silkmen goalkeeper Jon Brain.
