James Toseland declared himself pleased after finishing sixth behind Casey Stoner in his maiden MotoGP race, but targeted better results in future.

2008 Qatar Tech 3 Yamaha James Toseland - 0

Casey Stoner - Marlboro Ducati - Winner

"That was a fantastic race and I really enjoyed it - it was like being back in 125s! The first few laps were really hectic, there were guys bashing fairings and I just tried to stay out of the way. When I got my chance to get through I took it and from there I just focused on setting my pace. Jorge rode brilliantly - it wasn't an easy race by any means, especially at the start. Over the first few laps I was struggling a bit for grip but then the tyres got up to temperature and improved."

Jorge Lorenzo - Fiat Yamaha - Second

"Up until midway through the race we were up there with [Stoner], and I though we could stay with him to the end. But then my arm got sore due to the pressure of the race. After the initial tension for this debut I became tired towards the end and my pace dropped. Today we had a chance of winning but we didn't because Stoner went really quick and he deserves the victory. But let's not think about the championship. We may go to Jerez and end up tenth, or do better than today. This is the result and then we'll see."

Dani Pedrosa - Repsol Honda - Third

"I didn't expect this result, no way in this world. Last week here I was down to very last spot. We had plenty of problems with the bike, we've used last year's bike, different chassis, a big struggle in the garage. However this result is down to the team, I've never seen a team working so hard, so thanks to them."

James Toseland - Tech 3 Yamaha - Sixth

"I gave it my best shot. For my first race to be just behind Valentino [Rossi] on the same bike is amazing. When the new engine comes we can be more competitive. I've had some great support from all the English people who have come over and it can only get better. I'm still learning. I made a couple of hard moves but that was a lack of experience at this level on my part. I passed Jorge hard and we touched but fortunately he was OK and went on to finish second."

125cc race - Scott Redding - Bluesens Aprilia - Fifth

"I had a bad start, but I managed to pull back and a few people crashed and helped me to pick up places. I expected to finish about tenth or 11th, and when I saw that I had got up to third I thought, 'This isn't supposed to happen!' But I learnt a few things in the Spanish championship last year about holding a line. I wasn't pushing full on tonight, I was just holding my line, and now I've learnt something else from this race."

Bradley Smith - Polaris World Aprilia - 16th

"The damper came off at the mounting point on the frame. It changed the handling completely, because there was no stability at the front - it was free to do what it wanted. It made the bike really difficult to control, and you could crash if you ride without a steering damper. But I have to keep going to the very end."
