Southend captain Adam Barrett fired his side to a crucial 2-0 win over Brighton and then targeted three more points to secure a play-off place.Goals from Barrett and Mark Gower helped move Steve Tilson's side up to fourth spot in the League One ladder.
Barrett said: "We're nine points clear of seventh place now so it's looking good.
"One more win from our last four games will be enough to get in the play-offs and we want to get it as quickly as we can."
Barrett's claims were echoed by Tilson, who praised his team's resilient form at this late stage of the season.
Tilson said: "It was a good result and that is all that matters at this stage. Our first-half performance was what won us the game and they were two great finishes. We've lost one game in 15 now which is really pleasing but I don't think we were really at our best."
