Huddersfield have drawn up a shortlist of six candidates as they step up their search for a new manager and believe "the calibre is very high".The club received over 25 serious applicants for the job following Andy Ritchie's departure by mutual consent last week and have whittled that down to half a dozen candidates.
Interviews will now get underway next week.
Town chairman Ken Davy said: "The calibre of the shortlist is very high and we are pleased with the candidates, but we're not ruling out anyone else who applies at this stage.
"We will be in touch with those managers on our list in the very near future."
Davy added the board will not be rushed into announcing Ritchie's successor, who will be the Terriers' sixth manager in as many years.
