Morris Staying At Worcester

Wed 09 Apr, 06:09 PM

Worcester prop Darren Morris has signed a new two-year deal with the Guinness Premiership strugglers.

The 33-year-old former Wales and Lions forward has been an integral part of the Warriors' front row since joining the club from Leicester two years ago.

He is set to miss the rest of this season after suffering a bicep injury and will undergo surgery this weekend.

But he has vowed to return stronger next term, saying: "I'm really pleased to have signed up, it was always the right decision for me to stay.

"These are exciting times at Warriors and that was a big incentive to agree a deal. It's a fabulous club to be a part of with great supporters.

"I have been very happy with my form this season - it has been right up there. I have been consistent in games and although the injury now is frustrating, I will come back better than before.

"What has been key to my form is my enjoyment. This year I have really enjoyed being a Warrior and the environment around the club.

"Next year is a big season for us and I can hardly wait to play my part in a successful future for the club."

Director of rugby Mike Ruddock added: "I am pleased that Darren has committed himself to the club for the next two years.

"I actually think Darren has played better than I have seen him play for a long time this season and he seems to be enjoying the style of rugby that we're trying to promote. Hopefully that will continue to bring the best out of him over the next two years."
