Adams: Decision to return was easy

Fri 09 May, 11:30 AM

Micky Adams had no hesitation in agreeing to return to League One outfit Brighton once the call from Seagulls chairman Dick Knight came.Adams has been reappointed manager in a shock move which will see previous boss Dean Wilkins step aside to become first-team coach if he decides to take up Knight's offer.

"I have been offered four jobs since I've been out of work but it was an easy decision to come back, probably the easiest one I've had to make in my career," Adams, who led Brighton to the old Third Division title in 2001, told the Argus.

"Brighton managed to reach the Championship not so long ago and I laid the foundations for that. I know the expectancy will rise now and I could have left it and not fancied it, but that has never been me."

Adams has also urged Wilkins, who guided Albion to seventh in League One in his first full season in charge, to stay on on at the Withdean.

"Part of my discussions with Dick was that Dean has done a fantastic job and anyone looking in from the outside would think that. I am not privy to all that has gone on but what I do know is that Dean is a fantastic coach and I would like him to stay," he added.
