Fri 09 May, 10:45 AM

Gillingham's Adam Miller has undergone surgery to rectify a groin injury with the view of returning to action at the start of the new season. The 26-year-old played through the pain barrier in the latter stages of the season to help the Gills in their ultimately fruitless battle to beat the drop.

Miller has now gone under the knife but is expected to make a speedy recovery.

"Technically Adam's injury is not a hernia, it's a disruption of the groin," said club physio Paul Smith. "It's a common injury and he'll be back in training within two weeks.

"The injury requires no specific training and players have been known to play competitively within three weeks of surgery."
