ROME (AFP) - Former world champion pole vaulter Giuseppe Gibilisco has had his two-year doping suspension overturned by Lausanne's Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Ansa said Friday.
The Olympic bronze medallist was suspended for two years by the Italian Olympic Committee (Coni) in October after he was implicated in the 'Oil for Drug' scandal that mostly affected cyclists.
It means that he could now participate at the Beijing Olympics, four years after he ascended the podium in Athens.
"I feel like I've won the world championships, even the Olympics. It's the same feeling," said the 29-year-old 2003 world champion.
"I've already attained the Games qualification height last year before stopping.
"I don't think I'll have any problems clearing 5.70m. I want to go to Beijing and maybe I'll be stronger than before."
