No Excuses For Khaldun No-Show

Fri 09 May, 04:09 PM

Godolphin are still at a loss to explain the lifeless display of Ibn Khaldun in last Saturday's 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The Dubai Destination colt won the Racing Post Trophy as a juvenile and had been the subject of some pleasing gallop reports in the lead up to the race.

However, he cut no ice at all in the Classic won by Henrythenavigator and trailed home in 10th place.

"Nothing at all has come to light," said Godolphin's racing manager Simon Crisford.

"Obviously we examined him from head to toe but can't find anything wrong with him.

"He's so well and so fresh he's rearing up, so it is a little bit of a mystery.

"We'll just put that behind us now and we've got the Irish Guineas to look forward to," he told Channel 4 Racing.
