Bolton denied by Fulop late show

Sat 09 May, 05:14 PM

Marton Fulop made a crucial injury-time save to earn Sunderland a 0-0 at Bolton and a point that edges them closer towards survival.

The Black Cats had been the better side for much of a tepid Barclays Premier League contest.

However, Bolton finally roused themselves in a frantic few minutes and Gary Cahill thought he had won it with a header that seemed to be heading for the corner.

Defeat would have been disastrous for the Black Cats but Fulop flung himself to the right to preserve a point, which gives them a five-point advantage over Newcastle and Middlesbrough, who meet at St James' Park on Monday.

Bolton were sterile in the opening half, failing to muster one decent shot at the Sunderland goal, while the visitors created a number of chances that they were unable to take.

Kieron Richardson wasted further opportunities for Sunderland after the break and Bolton went close through Mark Davies and Mustapha Riga before Fulop's late heroics.

  1. Please watch the vidoes and see who and how the chances were misssed and misssed so badly Mr Sbragia. Then do something about it during training next week , the team must improve their goal scoring opportunities when they are presented to them. Why wasnt Healy considered in Place Richardson when he missed so many atttempts on goal?? His goal record says it all this season 3 goals come on there are defenders with more than him .
