Midfielder Ashley Carew has sacrificed his chances of playing in the World Cup with Barbados to concentrate on regaining fitness with Barnet. The 22-year-old, who is currently receiving treatment for the thigh strain which ruled him out of the Bees' final game of the season against Rotherham, has opted against playing for his country in their two World Cup qualifying games in June.
Instead, the player will work alongside physio Mark Stein in a bid to fully recover from his season-curtailing injury.
"He wants to complete his rehabilitation," Paul Fairclough told the club's official website. "He's putting Barnet first and doesn't want to jeopardise anything - it's his decision."
