City offer Ronaldinho £200k a week

Mon 09 Jun, 07:15 AM

Manchester City have reportedly made Brazilian star Ronaldinho an offer that would make him the highest-paid footballer in the world.A delegation of City representatives travelled to Brazil on Saturday to formally confirm they would be willing to pay the Barcelona forward around £200,000 a week.

'The discussions were mainly with Ronaldinho's brother, Roberto de Assis, who is acting as his agent.

'However, Ronaldinho briefly put in an appearance, too, and there will be more talks over the next two days.

'City's owner, Thaksin Shinawatra, has left the matter to his right-hand man, Pairoj Piempongsant, who is reporting back to (Garry) Cook and the new manager, Mark Hughes,' reports The Guardian.

Ronaldinho has yet to give the club an answer and has been left to mull over their offer.

"Barcelona have given us the clearance to talk to Ronaldinho and we've had people in Brazil over the weekend," confirmed City's executive chairman Garry Cook.

"We have a long, long list of things we need to get done because it's a very complex issue, with the type of player that he is. But when you are ambitious as we are, you just keep ticking the boxes and we're moving forward.

"We are nowhere near complete, but the most important thing is that he wants to get back to playing football and show the world again that he is the greatest footballer."

  1. if he takes the offer it'll just show he plays for the money. City will never get the best out of him and to be fair i dont think he's suited to the prem league. he'll be a huge mistake.

  2. City has good players that can play alongside Ronaldinho. And as they train together for some time, the understanding will come and they will work together as a team.
