Preston chairman Derek Shaw insists the club will remain financially prudent in their bid to reach the Premier League.North End have come close to winning promotion in recent seasons but the 2007/08 campaign saw them flirt with relegation to League One.
The Lancashire club do not have the financial muscle of many of their Championship rivals and Shaw says they will not spend beyond their means ahead of the 2008/09 season.
"We try to run a business that could really do with double the income to really make it tick and support the manager in the best way we possibly can," said Shaw. "We could really do with doubling our income to push on to the Premier League.
"We are what we are, and eventually we will do it. We will continue to do it in the manner that we always have done until there are any changes in the structure of the club, where somebody would be willing to come and pump the millions in to try and fast-track the promotion."

What a load of rubbish aromamike as said. Shaw as now got in a manager who as got the team motivated. With a full pre season and a couple of decent signings this team will be a real force to be reckoned with this season.
DS is a disgrace. He should go and run the local library not a centre of entertainment relied on by the community.
The fact the premiership football is worth £62m has totally passed him by.
Progressive Chairman at Hull,Stoke and MK Dons have shown what can be done with a positive agressive approach.
We will not attract players or a progressive management team with his negative attitude....who wants to come to Deepdale where there is no future.
The Chairman is a disaster for this club and his continual negativity will probably result in our relegation next season.
