HALLE, Germany (AFP) - World number one and beaten Roland Garros finalist Roger Federer will launch his grass-court campaign here at Halle's ATP tournament on Wednesday, the organisers have announced.

The 26-year-old, who has won the last five Wimbledon titles, traditionally uses Halle, west Germany, as his warm-up for the Grand Slam event and has informed organisers he will arrive here on Tuesday after a short break at home in Zurich.

Last Sunday, Federer was beaten in straight sets by world number two Rafael Nadal, who won his fourth straight title at Roland Garros on clay, but the Swiss master is set to play his first game here on Wednesday.

"Roger wants to test his grass-court game and will fly in on a private jet after a short break," said tournament director Ralf Weber here on Monday.

Federer withdrew from last year's tournament at the eleventh hour, but has booked practise courts here and Weber is confident he will arrive to chase his fifth Halle win.
