Woodman (pictured) has signed a two-year contract with Wasps after working as national forwards coach with the Australia Rugby Union.

He will work under Wasps director of rugby Tony Hanks and head coach Shaun Edwards, currently with the British and Irish Lions in South Africa.

"I am really looking forward to coming back to the UK and taking on a role with a club that stands as one of the most successful in English rugby," said Woodman, 32, who won 22 caps for England.

"Wasps have an unbeatable record in the game with an honours list that can rival any other Premiership club and over the years they have produced some of the games most exciting talents.

"I will have the opportunity to not only work as part of this great establishment, but also join forces with some of the most respected names in the game with the likes of Vickery and Shaw - two of my former team mates - to name but a few."

Woodman was a key member of the England team that won the World Cup in 2003 under Sir Clive Woodward.

But the mobile prop was forced into early retirement by a long-term back injury at the age of 29, following a successful club career with Bath, Gloucester and Sale.

After retirement, Woodman took a job with Sydney University, and later a forwards coaching role with the ARU, which saw him help the Australian Super 14 sides as well as the national age group squads.

Hanks also announced that John McCloskey had joined the club as skills coach after a successful stint in Gaelic football.
