As Espanyol battled relegation Kameni was widely expected to leave when his contract expired this summer.

But a late-season surge saw Espanyol finish 10th and the former Le Havre shot-stopper opted to stay.

"We have agreed an extension and Kameni has indicated to us he is happy to continue at Espanyol," sporting director Ramon Planes said on the club's website.

Kameni, 25, is on duty with Cameroon, who play a World Cup 2010 qualifier against Gabon in Libreville on June 20.

  1. you are right my friend but all those clubs talk and don't walk the walk. None of them has shown willingness and drive to sign the man. The Kameni saga is lasting over a year now and none of them acted past a meager interest in the daily news. Kameni has to secure his future and cannot wait for the sellers of dreams. Even, I cannot believe all these clubs. Barcelona for example should have bought him and sold Valdes to Espanyol. Kameni is a top keeper.

  2. Interesting fellow. He could be suitable to clubs of Arsenal's and Milan's stature.
