Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has dismissed suggestions he is trying to sign Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi.
There were claims in Italy on Monday that Napoli had been approached by an agent acting as an intermediary for Liverpool over a possible £15million deal for the 24 year-old Argentina international. And the player's advisor Eduardo Rossetto insisted that "Liverpool's proposal is true."
However, Benitez said : "We never contacted Lavezzi and we have no intention of doing so. We want to put a stop to these rumours."
Liverpool have also reaffirmed their position on Javier Mascherano, who has been linked with Barcelona, insisting the player is not for sale.

not good enough for the reds
Past there best players, great to hear, what happened to a once big club who bought the best not the best wanting to leave. COYB
More rats deserting the sinking american clipper,COYB
mmmoooose comment 4: You have forgotten to say soon Kop will leave and then after Anfield will leave us.Why after naming SG andAlonso you stopped there? Continue
Thanks for the constructive comment #3... They beat your lot twice, finished above you and didn't start screaming and whining like a bunch of spoiled children when they lost!! All the money you've spent and you still finish 3rd, frankly i'd be embarrassed to be a Chelsea fan at the mo.. By the way, learn to spell you nugget !!
Babel isn't good enough as a strike player - Sell him. Ngog might be worth a punt so give him another year. as demonstrated by Torres signing - no substitute for class. We need game breakers. That said, fair play to the boys, the run in to the end of the season was terrific so hopefully we go for it against the weaker teams from the off next season.
Mascherano wants out! Well we all saw that one coming. After winning nowt at Anfield Mascherano has wised up and realised sometimes you have to follow your head not your heart to be successful. Alonso will be next out then Gerrard to follow next year, you can take that to the bank, or in Liverpools case you have to take the money to the bank. Tee! he, he. More words of wisdom from the Mmmm00000se. Roll on next season No. 19
liverpool should give up. they suck. no player shoulod ever wanna play with them, especially with benitez as manager
Obviously no one can judge how good this player is until he gets a chance to play in the premier league but 15 goals in 2 seasons isn't too good...I'd bet Ngog would get at least that and we need to sign better players not ones on par, also Lavezzis agent was touting his player in January saying Chelsea wanted him which sounds to me that his agent merely sees the premier league as a cash cow for average performing players.
Personally depending on how much cash we have I'd sell Itandje, Dossena, and Lucas which should bring in around £12million, play Babel as a striker or in a free roaming role and invest in a natural right winger as Kuyt can also play as a forward if needed, I'd go for Joaquin of indebted Valencia or take a risk on Bentley who might not necessarily be a "go past the full back with ease" type of player but is one of the best crossers in the premier league and with both Torres and Kuyt being good in the air I'd see plenty of chances, also I'd bring in Bodmer of Lyon or Veloso of Sporting both can either play as defensive or attacking midfielders and would each cost around the £10million mark. If Degen can get fit and challenge a much improved Arbeloa and Aurelio and young Insua have equally good seasons I cannot see how a (so far) one season wonder like Glen Johnson or a past his best Heinz will improve us.
iv heard all these denials before, next thing you know the player in question is a liverpool player, just wait and see,we have got too many fringe players allready,we need to get rid of the yanks, and get some class players in asap.
