Edwards ready for Wolves challenge

Tue 09 Jun, 10:49 AM

Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards is ready to battle his way into Mick McCarthy's Barclays Premier League starting line-up next season.

Edwards started last term's promotion campaign among the substitutes - finishing the season with 23 starts and 21 further appearances from the bench.

A number of reinforcements are expected to arrive over the summer, but the Wales international insists he is ready to do the hard work all over again when pre-season training resumes.

"I know how hard it's going to be just to win a place in the team but I'm ready for that challenge," Edwards told Wolves' official website.

"I think it's happened almost throughout my career that I've not been in the starting line-up at the start of a season from the time I set out at Shrewsbury.

"Often new signings come in during the summer and are given the chance to show what they can do and from there it's a case of battling your way through into the team."
