Local duo hail Tykes ticket policy

Tue, 09 Jun 14:42:08 2009

Michael Parkinson and local MP Michael Clapham are the latest high profile figures to laud Barnsley for reducing ticket prices at Oakwell next season.

The Tykes are offering free season-tickets to children aged 12 and under and will cut the size of their playing squad next season in order to subsidise a reduction in all adult season-ticket prices at Oakwell by 20%.

Sir Michael told the club's official website: "Anything that encourages young people to watch football is a good idea. Reduced prices for all is an even better one!"

Barnsley West and Penistone MP Mr Clapham added: "I welcome Barnsley FC's initiative to keep faith with the community by reducing prices of season tickets in these hard times and wish the club every success."
