Perez makes Ronaldo next move

Tue, 09 Jun 11:08:23 2009

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has set his sights on signing Cristiano Ronaldo after completing a move for Kaka.

AC Milan playmaker Kaka joined Madrid on Monday night for a fee of £59 million and Perez is eager to continue his 'galacticos' policy of pairing the Brazilian with Manchester United winger Ronaldo.

Perez told Sky Italia: "We are always thinking about great players. Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are among other great players around the world."

He added: "We all know that these are players that we would like to buy but they can't all come."

Perez's comments are likely to infuriate United, who voiced their displeasure last summer at Madrid's public pursuit of the Portugal international.

And Perez insisted any move for Ronaldo this time would be done via the right channels.

He added: "Ronaldo is a great player who we would like to bring to the club but first we have to speak to Manchester United because the important thing is for us to maintain a good rapport with everyone."

  1. Perez is a master of spreading false rumours while hiding behind an air of respectability. He always goes all out to undermine a players loyalty to the club he is playing for. This type of constant hounding of players by this charlattan should earn him a caution or even better all the Football associations in Europe should ban him from having any position whatever in the game.

  2. he should go if he really wants to - cant be a*sed with all this 'will he, wont he' for another summer. all that @#$% last summer really spoiled the CL win and i felt like we never had the opportunity to really appreciate last seasons acheivements because of the ronaldo circus

  3. we should sell him and get michael owen on the cheap

  4. I agree 100% with comment 12 I have been telling anyone who will listen for a long time that this united midfield is the worst we have had for years This was really under lined in the Champions League and not only in the final think back to the games with Inter & Porto when we were so completely over ran in midfield it was embarrasing to watch. Time for SAF to say goodbye to Giggs & Scholes great servants but past their sell by date, Nani is hopeless Carrick needs all day to make a pass and Anderson is like a headless chicken at times, I never thought I would be saying that Fletcher is the only midfielder worth his salt at Old Trafford. If Fergie doesnt get the cheque book out soon we will be in big trouble next season.

  6. Comment No 5, you are absolutely spot on with your assessment of Man U's midfield. I have made similar criticisms in the past particularly about Giggs, who is now well past his first team life and I have been slated for having the face to criticise this once great player. If fans have been studying the performances of Giggs this season, I cannot see that they can legitimately claim that his performances have justified a place in the team. His passing has been very poor and only occasionally has he shown any real commitment. In particular, what did he do against Barcelona? I can not recall any passage of play where he made a positive contribution. I do recall numerous passages of play where he gave the ball away and made no effort to retrieve the situation. Further, Carrick is far too slow and is of little use unless he is given half an hour to play the ball. In tight situations, his distribution is rubbish. Anderson too has been extremely disappointing. After a promising start to his United career, he seems to have gone backward in his performances. He rarely makes a tackle and his workrate is nothing like it used to be. I agree with comment 5 that United will be in serious difficulty if SAF continues with the present midfield setup and fails to sign any quality midfielders for this coming season.

Would be a nice deal to swap C.Ronaldo to Arjen Robben with extra payment. The players have almost the same parametres. Bcos Real have heaps of midfielders and not all of them would get the first team. By getting Robben Man.Utd. would make up for the loss of C.Ronaldo. IS IT A GOOD IDEA?

  11. ronaldo not being british is after more experiences elsewhere and we as united fans have to appreciate that, he has a different way of life being portugese and seeks new challenges, which we cant blame him really, just that we british are so one track minded, if he wants to go, let him go he will always be a legend at trafford

  12. Let Ronaldo be a legend for United like Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. The last two names have been wearing MU shirt for more than a decade. Wouldn't Ronaldo himself be honoured to equal their achievements and make history.

Perez, if you want a new Galacticos, why not creating it instead of buying it? Give Real's young players a chance, just like Fergie did at MU last season. It will guarantee your club's future better than just begging on other teams for their stars.

  13. Without Ronaldo Utd. will struggle to retain the Premier League.I am also worried at SAF's comments regarding the present team being on the verge of "Greatness".The midfield quartet of Park,Anderson,Carrick and a 35 year old Giggs [CL Fianal] is the worst of the top four teams. When Utd.were at their best the midfield read Beckham,Scholes,Keane and a 25 year old Giggs. This Utd's best "11" is no where near as good as 1999 infact it is not as good as the present best "11" of Liverpool or Chelsea. The squad won the League and Ronaldo, who missed part of the season and according to so many had a bad season also, was again their top scorer. This present Utd. will win nothing without him.If SAF has money to spend he should be looking in one area only "midfield" and buying players who can control, hold and pass the ball better than this present "crop".They are not good enough!

  16. i think it's time 4 him to leave.... A player who wishes to go should be let to do so. He staying will only cause Utd problems. He needs a new enviroment!

  17. This not the right time for Ronaldo to be leaving Utd.
Utd are Premier league Champions (the best in the world), world champions and league cup holders. He should go in maybe 5 or 6 years as becks did.
