Reason makes Us move

Tue 09 Jun, 02:12 PM

Midfielder Jay Reason has signed a pre-contract agreement with Cambridge after being released by Ipswich.

The 19-year-old spent the final three months of last season with the Us and helped them reach the Blue Square Premier play-off final.

Reason's contract with Ipswich was due to expire on July 1 and he has signed a one-year deal with Cambridge amid reported interest from League One and Two clubs.

"It was tough because there were other clubs that wanted me," Reason told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"The teams didn't give any spark or enthusiasm that they wanted to go places, but at Cambridge everyone's really excited about the new season.

"There were League Two and League One clubs [after me], so that was a massive persuasion, but I feel like I owe it to Cambridge United fans to get the club up to where it belongs."
