Chester have given striker Chris Holroyd permission to speak to Blue Square Premier side Cambridge United over a possible transfer.The 21-year-old may find first-team opportunities hard to come by next season after the arrivals of Paul Taylor and Ryan Lowe, and is set to travel south for talks with new United boss Gary Brabin.

Meanwhile, City began their pre-season programme on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over League of Wales side TNS.
