Rhys Weston believes Walsall boss Jimmy Mullen will have no trouble making the transition from assistant manager to number one.Mullen, number two at the Bescot Stadium until last April when previous boss Richard Money quit, was in charge for the Saddlers' last two games of the 2007/8 season.
Weston said: "Out of respect for Jimmy you have to look at it as a new appointment. Being an assistant and being a manager is a completely different role.
"Obviously we know Jimmy primarily as an assistant manager but it's a new appointment and a fresh start and obviously he's going to have his own ideas. It was difficult for him to impress upon the boys what he wants from his team in the three games he had in charge towards the end of last season.
"Jimmy's taken the mantra on full-time now which is fantastic and I'm sure he'll stamp his authority on the squad in pre-season."
