They are indeed.

Shaun Marsh followed up his success as the leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League by scoring 81 - and taking the Man of the Match award - on his one-day international debut for Australia against West Indies in St Vincent last week.

Shaun's father, Geoff Marsh, played 117 ODIs between 1985-86 and the 1991-92 World Cup.

There have only been nine other father-and-son combinations in ODIs: Chris and Stuart and Broad (England); Lance and Chris Cairns (New Zealand); Colin and Chris Cowdrey (England); Sunil and Rohan Gavaskar (India); Ron and Dean Headley (Ron for West Indies, Dean for England); Majid and Bazid Khan (Pakistan); David and Graham Lloyd (England); Don and Derek Pringle (Don for East Africa, Derek for England); and Yograj and Yuvraj Singh (India).

Has anyone taken a hat-trick in a Twenty20 international?

The only one so far was taken by Australia's Brett Lee, against Bangladesh in Cape Town during last year's World Twenty20 championship.

Lee had Shakib Al Hasan caught behind, bowled Mashrafe Mortaza, and then pinned Alok Kapali lbw with the third, fourth and fifth balls of his third over, the 17th of Bangladesh's innings.

What's the highest score by someone in a team's second innings in a Test?

Only one player has scored a triple-century in his team's second innings in a Test: Hanif Mohammad made 337 for Pakistan against West Indies in Bridgetown in 1957-58.

But there was also one (very) near-miss: Martin Crowe was out for 299 in New Zealand's second innings against Sri Lanka in Wellington in 1990-91.

Altogether there have been 26 Test scores of 200 or more in a team's second innings.

Who has taken the most caught-and-bowleds in Tests and one-day internationals?

It's close at the top in Test cricket - Anil Kumble currently leads the way with 33 caught-and-bowleds, just one ahead of Muttiah Muralitharan.

They are a long way in front of Shane Warne (21) and Derek Underwood (20).

I know there is a county player called Charlie Shreck, but which international player is nicknamed "Shrek"?

This lucky man is England's Matthew Hoggard.

Perhaps I should say was, as the nickname came about when Hoggard was sporting a close-cropped almost bald hairstyle - I haven't heard the nickname since "Hoggy" grew his hair a bit.

According to his Cricinfo player page, one of the Nottinghamshire fast bowler Charlie Shreck's nicknames is, appropriately enough, "Ogre".

Is the Olympic swimmer Kirsty Coventry the sister of the Zimbabwean Test cricketer Charles?

I believe that the two are not closely related: the bespectacled Charles Coventry, who played two Tests and 11 ODIs for Zimbabwe, is the son of the former international umpire Charles "Chuck" Coventry, while according to a swimming website the parents of the world champion swimmer Kirsty Coventry are called Rob and Lyn.

And there's an afterthought to the recent question about Allan Border recalling Tony Gray in a match at Sydney,

"That match at the SCG in 1986-87 happened to be the first ODI that I ever attended, and I remember the Gray recall well - the crowd was very appreciative of Border's actions.

What many don't remember is that there was an unusual incident earlier on in the day when the West Indian opener Thelston Payne, after being dismissed, began walking off in the wrong direction! He was halfway to the boundary towards the Bill O'Reilly Stand when he suddenly realised he needed to turn around and head the other way back to the Members' stand.

After the match I waited around the back of the Members' stand for a friend (who never turned up) and managed to get the 'evil eye' from Viv Richards as he walked by.

The Aussie team eventually left in a van that was driven by Simon O'Donnell, who beeped me as he drove by! Good memories."
