Cardiff City are going to have to really pull out all the stops if they are to keep Robbie Fowler.
According to The Sun, Fowler is set to turn down an extended contract offer from the Bluebirds in favour of a move to Dubai with Al-Ahli.
In addition to owning half of Liverpool, Fowler also has a few quid's worth of bricks and mortar in the UAE, so he wouldn't be hard up for a place to stay.
This isn't the first time the subject has come up, with Fowler's agent George Scott saying last year: "If he was to think about moving, Qatar or Dubai could be an option."
Given the choice between playing possibly your final season on a pay-as-you-play deal at Cardiff or scooping a megabucks payday in sunnier climes, what would you do?
It could get even worse for Cardiff fans, as Burnley look like they might swoop in to sign former PSV midfielder Remco van der Schaaf.
The 29-year-old is a free agent after being released by Vitesse Arnhem, and has reportedly already snubbed the Welsh club in favour of Owen Coyle's side, where he arrived for a medical last night.
Former Liverpool full-back Stephen Wright is currently hawking his wares to Coventry City.
Wright, 28, has joined the Sky Blues at their pre-season training camp in Austria, and is hoping to do enough to earn a free transfer after being released by Sunderland back in June.
Wolves fans may be painfully aware that Seyi Olifinjana handed in a transfer request last week, and it seems that newly-promoted Hull City will pop back down to the Championship to pick up the Nigerian.
A £3 million bid will trigger a release clause in the midfielder's contract, allowing him to open talks over swapping the Wolves for the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Bristol City will firmly rebuff any interest from Blackburn Rovers for defender Bradley Orr, free agent Jermaine Wright is in talks over joining Blackpool and Nottingham Forest are set to make their fifth signing of the summer by grabbing Carlisle striker Joe Garner for £500,000.
