Swansea are hoping to prepare their squad for the rigours of Championship football with the addition of a Premier League youngster.
Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has identified a need to replace Paul Anderson, who spent last season on loan with Swansea but ultimately opted to move to Nottingham Forest, with another player of a similar ilk and on a similar deal.
Chelsea's Scott Sinclair and Liverpool's Adam Hammil have already been linked with the Swans, and chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed they are on the lookout for a player from a big club who fill Anderson's boots on the right hand side.
Jenkins said: "He [Martinez] is looking to get another youngster from the Premier League because he feels that will work well."
Meanwhile, it looks like Birmingham striker Olivier Kapo could be staying in the Premier League as Blues boss Alex McLeish looks to generate enough cash to lure Dave Kitson to St Andrews.
A deal with top flight outfit Wigan will be sanctioned if Kitson can be tempted to make a £3.5 million move to Birmingham from Reading. Fulham will offer competition for the flame-haired hitman's signature.
Another Reading man in the news is James Harper, although unlike Kitson, a move elsewhere is becoming increasingly unlikely. The midfielder is thought to be furious with the Berkshire club for valuing him at £5.5 million - a fee he feels has priced him out of the market. Bolton and Middlesbrough were interested, but are loathe to spend more than £3 million.
Clinton Morrison's Crystal Palace career is nearing an end after the club withdrew their offer of a new contract. The Republic of Ireland striker has not returned for pre-season training, leaving Eagles boss Neil Warnock to turn his attentions elsewhere.
"Clinton has not accepted our offer so it's no longer on the table. I assume he must have found himself a new club," Warnock said.
QPR and Coventry are both tracking Morrison while Warnock has identified Hearts hitman Christian Nade as a possible replacement.
And finally, Palace youngster Ashley-Paul Robinson has found himself in hot water at Selhurst Park after revealing he is undergoing trials with Tottenham - via his Facebook page.
Warnock was left non-too impressed by Robinson's revelation on the social networking site, saying: "We feel it's probably better that he looks elsewhere to further his career".
