Southampton have parted company with manager Mark Wotte following the club's takeover by Markus Liebherr.
A statement read: "We wish to recognise Mr Wotte's efforts during a difficult period for all associated with the club. We wish him well for the future.
"Our decision is part of a wider strategic plan being implemented to improve all aspects of the club's operations, both on and off the field. In keeping with this plan we can confirm that the search for a new manager has already begun.
"Our search will be conducted in a systematic and professional manner. We will find the right candidate, who will fulfil the criteria necessary to move the club forward."
Stewart Henderson has been placed in temporary charge of the first team.

So is Loyalty Rewarded! Bet their really proud of themselves! They can stic k their Strategic Plan Up where the Sun does NOT shine!
I feel sorry for Mark Wotte, but understand the new owner wanting his own team in charge. I also must say that I woulld think that supporters of a club with massive debts, an owner who wants out, and in the middle of a massive exodus of players, would have more important things to worry about what is happening at the SAINTS.
Mike S, Winchester
typical of pompey fan stevehibbard no class still jealous of the saints at least we dont have to play in a cow shed and train in a different city (soton) you will never be out of our shadow so take your stupid comments and place them where the sun dont shine pompey @#$% saints will see you soon and thrash you
i have sympathy for mark wotte he stuck by the club even when it looked like we were going out of existance but i dont think he was the man for the job it needs experience, i thought he might have gone back to the academy but thats not to be , so good luck to him and i sincerly hope he finds a suitable position very soon also nice to see davies is staying shame we had to lose some of the better players, but now the off field is sorted lets get behind the team and lift them back up
Even the greatest manager in the world won't save this bunch of no hopers from going down (again). What a cheek to moan about 10 points deduction - it should have been at least 17 for lying and trying to put one over the FA. PLAY UP POMPEY
Steve Cotterill , future England manager too .
Shame about Wotte, but he was part of Rupert's 'dutch plan' ... was always on the cards that he would go, whoever took over.
Didn't hear anyone complaining when Woodward went, another of Rupert's clever 'plans'.
Steve Coppell, Gordon Strachen or Dave Jones (right another of Rupert's wrongs) please.
Well, well. Welcome back Mr Keegan, another hard working guy moves out from a club,in this instance to greet the return of a saviour. 10 points is a lot to make up in a season, just ask Leeds, and when the team is not at it's best there is only one thing to do...walk out!
The task is too big for Keegan and I don't think that he has the temerity to take on the challenge. If he does, it can only end in disaster.Poor Wotte, he was surrounded by doubt and turmoil but kept his head down and got on with the job, but as always happens a new broom....etc.
i feel sort of sorry for wotte how it all unfolded when the club was heading to disaster he was prepared to stick buy them thick and through. anyways gud luk saints hope it all goes well
Nae Donney Man, he looks more like Trigger "Alright Dave?"
Steve cotts !!! trust bet u
DONNEY: MUNCHIN GLADBACK AS THEE SAE EN FRENCE
mickey mouse club, will soon be in lowest tier in english football, why dont u get le tiss in as manager... ha ha
I've heard Matt Le Tissier has put his name forward
Thanks for everything Mark - I wish you well
mike
the only place i can't find you and your puerile comments is on your own club's pages!
How about Harry Redknap as new manager?
big fooking deal.. nobody really cares about southampton.. theres only one south coast tem and its portsmouth
I feel sorry for Killer Svenson his job as assitant looks dodgy now .. Hope the club have another role for him within the club when the new man is appointed - Alan Curbs for me ..
Mark Wotte thanks for loyality.. But we need to get out of the Panda Pop League
hands off Nigel Pearson, he's not going anywhere.
