Reading have confirmed they have received a "significant" sell-on fee after former striker Simon Cox moved to West Brom.
Cox joined Swindon in January 2008 and last week completed a £1.9million move to Albion after a prolific season in Wiltshire.
Director of football Nick Hammond told Reading's official website: "The sell-on fee we placed in Simon's original transfer was significant, and therefore this is a good deal for all parties.
"We sold Simon as he was some way down the pecking order but we saw the potential in him.
"This is a win-win situation all round now for West Brom, Swindon, ourselves and Simon."

according to the evening post reading have recieved 50% of the sell on fee if this is so why cant we just buy tommy smith for 1.8million or anybdy else where is all the money going??????????????
Had cox stayed at Reading he probably would not be first team. We could have tried to buy him back, but did not. Perhaps he is not as good as people want to make out. Look at that guy we signed from Colchester, he played 3 matches and we sold him to sunderland, who then loaned him back to the championship. He simply is not a premiership player. It happens.
Besides, Simon Church is Doyle's replacement, and better than Cox.
In the past (the Elm Park days) Reading FC was run simply as a business - bring on a promising player and then sell him. It worries me that this is going to happen again and the Royals will simply stagnate in the Championship because the team they end up with will be mediocre. Do the powers that be not realise that the gates will go down and down? Come on, spend money to accumulate money - or find a buyer for the club who wants the success that the fans want.
cox could have been doyles replacement but hapless hammond sold him....nuff said about where the royals are going.
more money for madjeski to put in his pocket
