Samuel Eto'o scored his eighth goal of the World Cup qualifying campaign to help steer Cameroon to a 2-1 win over Gabon and top place in African Group A.
It was the second win in five days over the previous group leaders and catapults Cameroon from last place to first in the standings with two rounds left to play.
Lyon midfielder Jean Makoun opened the scoring in the 24th minute when he diverted a free-kick from Newcastle's Geremi into the net.
Eto'o was quickest to a rebound in the 64th minute after Gabon's goalkeeper Didier Ovono parried a shot from Achille Webo.
Daniel Cousin scored a consolation goal in the final minute but Gabon have now dropped to second in the group on six points, one behind Cameroon. Cameroon next host Togo in Yaounde on October 10.

it is very unfortunate that these guys do not play fro cameroon otherwise they probably wish Eto'o was argentinean or they themselves were camerooneans so they could celebrate his goals
All you guys were not watching the game. The pas came from iniesta, to messi, to xavi and to ETO'O maiweeeee and it's a goaoooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. hail the king of scoring. see the point is l have been following great Eto'o for some time and this guy knows how to position himself. Did anybody watch this other game....barca vs chealse. chealse tried to man-mark him out of the game. and what then happened, Eto'o draws his markers to his defence line.....actually he went back into being a defender or rather to start the formula from the back. All l remember is a move from the back involving Eto'o and he also became the last man to touch the ball b4 the chealse goalie picked it up from the net.
There is no better way of saying it!!!! You said it all. Comment No7 Elbaovis
What did Eto'o do for his country? He scored and will be taking them to world cup. I would like the likes of Pep and Barca to see it that Eto'o is not a only a footballer he is a legend and will proof it when Inter meets Barca in CL. Messi was playing for Argentina in S. America how many goals did he scored? NONE!!! and Ibra How many? NONE!!!!!. The talking point that Eto'o scores becoz of Iniesta, Xavi and Messi should be put to bed now becoz none of them plays for cameroon and Eto'o is the highest goal scorer for his country and will be for his club; that is what Eto'o does best. He will never stop scoring goals for his team. GO Eto'O
I still can't believe that Eto'O have scored 8 goals in this campaign when there is no messi, iniesta, xavi and alves to help him?
But what happened with the so called "mighty Messi" when argentina played against Brazil and Paraguay?Where were the great passes to make Tevez,Rodrigues and Lisandro to score 30 times?I thought people said with Messi even a cow can score 30 goals.
Eto'O is proving his critics wrong every day and night. There he is leading his national side from the bottom of the group to a first place and the only qualifying position.Argentina is not even sure of being fifth and to play the play off.
FIFA will surely see their over rated europeen talents sitting infront of large screens at cafes or their homes while others are enjoying themselves on the pitch in South Africa.Messi,Ronaldo,Ibra and host of other over rated players will surely join me watching while thelikes of Eto'O,Drogba,Essien,Makoena, will be entertaining us.
Thatz really great and I'm waiting to see this happen.Hahahahahahahahahahhahaha
World best because of colour or race will not be at the greatest football competition in the world yet they remain world best.
Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Enjoy your titles while we enjoy the game with our under rated players.

c' est fini pour le togo
c' est fini pour le togo
But Inesta does not play for Cameron or Inter, yet Eto is still scoring goals like pancakes.
I GUESS INIESTA WAS THE ONE THAT GAVE HIM THE PASS TO SCORE
