Terry: Klasnic spat at me

England captain John Terry accused Bolton forward Ivan Klasnic of spitting at him during the Wembley demolition of Croatia that sealed a place at the World Cup.

Klasnic, who is on loan at the Reebok Stadium from French club Nantes, was a 73rd-minute substitute for Eduardo, who had scored the consolation in the 5-1 victory for England.

"It's not a nice situation," Terry said. "He came on frustrated. He is the first person who has ever spat at me."

He added: "It's one of those things but let's not let it ruin a massive night for us."

Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard both scored twice and Wayne Rooney grabbed another for Fabio Capello's men, who have now reached next year's tournament in South Africa.

"Let's not forget it has taken us a year or so to get to this level," Terry said on ITV1.

"We still want to progress and have a lot of improvements to make in this squad.

"This is where we want to be, competing at this level and at this standard."

  5. Chuks c, you are absolutely right Terry is the one­ likely to be banned, FIFA &EUFA hate England and­ English football including the premiershiip and will­ not be happy until it has disappeared. Croatia's­ Manager their Football Association leader and now thier­ players have acted and spoken with no credit. Good luck­ Ukraine, please make second place

    what are you trying to instigate? i bet you, instead of­ Klasnic to be investigated by fifa or eufa, you will be­ at the receiving end. Terry should mind the way he­ accuses other nationalities or else fifa or eufa will­ ban him from playing football period.
