David Lemi has signed a contract extension with Bristol which ties to him to the west country club until 2011.

The Samoa winger has scored 27 tries in 41 starts for Bristol and was the top try-scorer in last season's Guinness Premiership.

Head coach Richard Hill said: "When we signed David he was a star on the World Sevens Series but less well known in the XVs game.

"Not all sevens specialists make the transition to the 15-a-side game but David has been sensational.

"His try-scoring record has been second to none since that point and he's a key factor in our attacking game and has the ability to score tries often from impossible positions on the field."

Lemi added: "I've been very happy in my time here at Bristol. The club has progressed a great deal over the past couple of years and everything is in place for us to go even further.

"When I was approached about a new contract, I had no hesitation and am looking forward to Bristol enjoying further success in my time here."
