Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is also named in the squad.

The Odense trio of ex-Hibs and Celtic defender Ulrik Laursen, Chris Sorensen and former Manchester United forward Mads Timm have all been named in the squad by coach Morten Olsen.

Laursen, 31, has represented his country at junior level but, after impressing at Hibs and following a decent first season at Celtic, he saw his career stall before returning to Denmark two seasons ago.

It is a huge turnaround for 22-year-old forward Timm too, a highly-rated forward whose time at Manchester United was effectively ended when he was sentenced to 12 months in a young offenders institute for causing a car crash during a boy-racing incident.

Denmark are currently fourth in the tightly poised Group F - although they do have a game in hand on second placed, Spain and third placed Northern Ireland.

Denmark squad:

Jesper Christiansen (FC Copenhagen), Stephan Andersen (Brondby), Thomas Sorensen (Aston Villa); Brian Priske (Club Brugge), Martin Laursen (Aston Villa), Michael Gravgaard (FC Copenhagen), Niclas Jensen (FC Copenhagen), Thomas Helveg (Odense), Ulrik Laursen (Odense), Chris Sorensen (Odense); Christian Poulsen (Sevilla), Daniel Jensen (Werder Bremen), Kenneth Perez (PSV Eindhoven), Leon Andreasen (Werder Bremen), Thomas Kahlenberg (Auxerre), Rasmus Wurtz (FC Copenhagen), Dennis Rommedahl (Ajax), Jesper Gronkjaer (FC Copenhagen); Jon Dahl Tomasson (Villarreal), Morten Nordstrand (FC Copenhagen), Nicklas Bendtner (Arsenal), Simon Busk Poulsen (Midtjylland), Mads Timm (Odense).
