Britain left the London Archery Classic - the official London 2012 test event - empty-handed after last hope Alison Williamson, like most of her teammates, fell in the second round at Lord's.

Five-time Olympian Williamson was the last Brit to compete in the individual events at the home of cricket - receiving a bye to the women's second round after ended the ranking round 12th overall.

However she failed to ensure the British team walked away from the official Olympic test event with something to show for their efforts losing 7-3 to Japan's Kaori Kawanaka - who was ranked 44th.

Williamson followed Larry Godfrey, Naomi Folkard and Amy Oliver's lead in bowing out in the second round at Lord's with fellow Brits Simon Terry and Alan Wills stumbling at the first hurdle.

Britain's failure to win a single medal, the men didn't make out of the first round in the team competition while the women finished fourth, could be seen negatively with nine months to go until 2012.

However Williamson is taking a more positive outlook, she said: "For some reason I shot OK in the ranking but it is so difficult when you are up against such high-class archers.

"I got a bye through the second round because of my higher ranking and, when warming up on the edge of the field, I was actually shooting while my two possible opponents were shooting their competitive round so I was actually shooting against them as well.

"Maybe her ranking round on Monday didn't really represent her true form. So you hear the scores and you know there is some stiff opposition out there.

"Being at Lord's has been great and it has been very motivating to have several players from the England cricket team who are world's No. 1-ranked test team here when we've been at the ground in the summer.

"It's very inspiring to see them putting the hard work in and very motivating. We try to emulate that work ethic."
