Justine Henin claimed a ruthless 6-0 6-0 victory over Marion Bartoli at the WTA Championships in Madrid to avenge a shock semi-final loss to the Frenchwoman at Wimbledon earlier this year.

The Belgian world number one, who had already qualified for the semi-finals out of the yellow group with two previous wins, dropped just 21 points all match to claim victory in just 57 minutes.

Bartoli, having only learned on Thursday that she would be playing as a replacement for Madrid withdrawal Serena Williams, looked like a shell of the player who stunned Henin 1-6 7-5 6-1 to reach the final at the All England Club in July.

"My motivation was a little bit about Wimbledon. But Wimbledon is far away now. She was better on that day, but a lot of things have happened since then," said Henin, who hit 30 winners to Bartoli's eight in the defending champion's final round robin match.

"Now a few months later I am fresh. At Wimbledon I was tired and it was a big disappointment for me. But you have to understand how it happened and it has brought a good reaction from me since then."

The Belgian has now won 23 straight matches, including her opening Madrid victories over Anna Chakvetadze and Jelena Jankovic, and will be joined by Chakvetadze, Ana Ivanovic and Maria Sharapova in the semi-finals.

Henin also secures the top spot in the yellow group after claiming the biggest margin of victory in the 35-year history of the season-ending Championships.
