Re-live the round-by-round action from Joe Calzaghe's unanimous points victory over Roy Jones Jr at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

BOXING 2008 - Joe Calzaghe on the floor after Roy Jones Jr put him down in the first round of their fight at Madison Square Garden in New York City - 0

CALZAGHE WINS BY UNANIMOUS DECISION!!! All three judges score it 118-109 in his favour.

ROUND 12 - IT'S ALL OVER!!! The fighters touch both gloves at the start of the final round as the fans rise to honour two of the biggest boxing names in history. A big left backs Jones on to the ropes but he doesn't want to know in the late stages - he's absolutely spent. A bit of showboating in the last seconds from both boxers as the crowd hail them one final time.

ROUND 11 - CALZAGHE KEEPING HIS GLOVES DOWN - Joe keeps up the taunts, which are meant in good humour, as he works away in the penultimate round. Perhaps only one more round to come in the career of this Welsh legend.

ROUND 10 - JOE A ROUND NEARER TO THE WIN - Jones's eye is almost entirely closed up now and Calzaghe is keeping up the pressure. It looks like it could go the distance.

ROUND 9 - JONES FIGHTS ON - His injury is gushing and referee Earle has not done much to protect it, but he is a proud man and giving some back to Calzaghe. That white band on Joe's shorts and the white bits of his shorts and gloves - he has the Welsh colours of red, green and white on both - are stained pink by the blood that is spattering him as he goes after perhaps his last opponent. Calzaghe ends the round the stronger and will surely be leading by a couple of rounds at least, if not more.

ROUND 8 - WHAT A FIGHT - JONES IN A RIGHT STATE!! There is blood on Calzaghe too and both fighters are beaten up, but it is Jones that is struggling to see through the injury... Calzaghe on the front foot. He has adapted brilliantly in this bout and could well be set to knock out Jones - but the American has come out fighting too as he realises he may need a knockout...

ROUND 7 - JONES'S FACE IS A MESS!!! Jones looked to be going well in the seventh but Calzaghe smashed him with a massive left and opened a monster cut over his left eye!! The blood is smeared all over his chest too from Joe's gloves - the eighth is delayed momentarily owing to the red stuff all over Jones's body...

ROUND 6 - BIG SHOT FROM ROY!! He rippled Joe's jaw with a deadly right uppercut on the counter!! Calzaghe's cut nose holding up fine and he is dictating the pace of this fight in the main - but he must be wary of moments like that.

ROUND 5 - The crowd are loving this fight!! Calzaghe has Jones backed into three different corners in one round as the Welshman launches a devastating straight right that rocks the Floridian. Jones also connected cleanly on one occasion though. Joe seems to be ahead after five rounds of 12...

ROUND 4 - Calzaghe keeps up the pressure!! He is trying to get Jones to open up. He catches him with a couple of decent shots but Jones also got through - Joe shaking his shoulders nonchalantly afterwards with his guard down, goading his rival.

ROUND 3 - Much better from Joe!! He unloads flurry after flurry of punches to keep Jones backed up. The American keeps his arms in front of his face for almost the entire round and Calzaghe sticks his face right in between them as he rains down combinations on Jones's body...

ROUND 2 - Calzaghe's nose is badly cut!! He looks shaky as Jones uses his speed to get through his defence - but Calzaghe responds with a barrage of blows with Jones on the ropes!! They are giving everything - a fantastic fight so far, with Jones on top...

ROUND 1 - CALZAGHE ON THE DECK!!! He takes a count, as he did in the first round against Bernard Hopkins, and survives... a great left jab from Jones followed up with a right. Before that late put down both men went toe to toe and Joe had his opponent backed up in the corner at one point.

04:48 - OFF WE GO!!!

04:47 - Jones wearing disgusting orange colours. Calzaghe, seeking to remain undefeated throughout his career, needs help to get rid of some beads - he wears sparkly black shorts with a white band.

04:45 - Legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer goes to work... the Garden is jumping. LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!

04:43 - The national anthems ensue. Referee Hubert Earle is taking charge of his biggest fight yet, a surprise as he is 62 years of age... no spring chicken.

04:40 - Roy Jones emerges first but there is not a lot of support for him in his home country. 'Who are ya?' is the shout. Here comes Joseph, with just as little fanfare - just the support of his travelling army of fans.

04:30 - Judah wins by unaminous decision. Now we can look forward to the main event... perhaps the last time we will see Joe Calzaghe in a boxing ring. Stay with us for round-by-round updates.

04:20 - Judah, as expected, should win now with two rounds of the 10 left as his two cuts hold up fine. There are boos and cheers as Jones is shown on the jumbo...

04:10 - Zab Judah and Ernest Johnson finishing up their chief support bout - it could go either way with both fighters suffering cuts. Cries of 'Super Joe Calzaghe' from the travelling army of British fans as the jumbotron shows the Wales's finest...

04:00 - So what do the trainers think?

Enzo Calzaghe: "You can climb Mount Everest 10 times, you can lift 150,000 kilos of weight but three years out of the ring at the wrong time of his career wasn't particularly beneficial (for Jones). You can't put that engine back in there, it can only disappear from you. So when that engine needs to be revved, is it there?

"We know he's fast off combinations. Three, four, five shots, and that's over for that period of time, but Joe will be throwing, three, six, eight, 10, 15 - and that's the difference."

Alton Merkerson: "Roy's the underdog in the fight and I tell you what, Roy fights his best when he's considered to be the underdog. We did it with Bernard Hopkins (in 1993) when he won the middleweight title. We did with James Toney (also at middleweight, in 1994) in Las Vegas when Roy was a 4-1 underdog.

"History is going to repeat itself. This fight is going to be the same as the Toney fight. They said he was the best pound-for-pound fighter, but Roy made him look like an amateur. Believe it or not, what I see in Roy now, I saw in him 12 or 15 years ago. He's back to where he's supposed to be.

"Joe's a great fighter: it's going to be a great fight, but I just don't see him beating Roy."

03:50 - The undercard still being dealt with - news on that shortly. Calzaghe touches hands with his son in the dressing room after a word with the referee and Jones has shaved off all that fluffy facial hair. That could sting when a sweaty glove impacts upon it...

03:40 - Both fighters had to strip to their underwear to each weigh in at 174 and a half pounds, just under the 175lb limit. If you"ve got a minute check out the video of the weigh-in on our website.

03:30 - Calzaghe's already superlative stock has risen in the last couple of years with outstanding victories over Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler in his previous super-middleweight stomping ground then a split decision triumph over legend Bernard Hopkins at light-heavyweight. However Jones has only secured points decisions over journeymen Prince Ajamu and Anthony Henshaw since two devastating knockout losses to Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson in 2004.

03:20 - Calzaghe may be expected to win - in what is expected to be his last fight - but Jones is a legend in his own right: an eight-times, four-weight world champion.

03:10 - Welshman Joe, undefeated in 45 fights with 32 by knockout, is favourite with 39-year-old Floridian Jones (52-4, 38 KOs) ceding three years to him.

03:00 - Welcome to eurosport.yahoo.co.uk's LIVE coverage of Joe Calzaghe's Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight Championship fight with Roy Jones Jr from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
