Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon suffered a fractured arm in the defeat at Tottenham and faces a spell on the sidelines.
He will have to withdraw from Scotland's squad for next Saturday's friendly against Wales.
Club medical staff will assess the severity of the injury in the coming days before determining how many matches he is likely to miss.
The Black Cats revealed Gordon's blow on their official website, explaining he suffered the fracture in a collision with Jermaine Defoe during Tottenham's 2-0 win at White Hart Lane.
Gordon, 26, had to be replaced by Marton Fulop midway through the second half of Saturday's match.
"Craig's in a lot of pain," said Sunderland manager Steve Bruce.

its funny how Gordons injury was an accidental collision, it didnt look like an accident to me.Defoe deliberately caught Gordon with his follow through.
at least we still have fulop who has proved his worth in the past
Thats football, he'll get over it.

No one deserves to go through that kind of pain - our thoughts and prayers are with you...
Get well soon Craig
Didnt want Gordon out this way would have prefered Fulop to have won his place via Comptitiveness and not injury.
No loss with hin being injured, he is hopeless, worst international keeper for last 10 years.
Hope you recover quickly Craig. Why did the ref let play go on when our goalkepper was clearly badly injured & could not defend his goal.
