Twice German figure skating champion Sarah Hecken has pulled out of the Grand Prix in Paris through injury.

The German Skating Union confirmed the 18-year-old requires surgery on her injured foot, ruling her out of the event in mid-November.

"Sarah Hecken hopes to soon be able to resume training," a statement read.

Hecken disappointed in her first Grand Prix appearance of the season in Canada last month, finishing eighth.

There was speculation at the time that her performance was due to family problems, but the skater herself complained of a lack of fitness.
