Mark Cavendish regularly puts his body on the line in the name of elite road racing, but the British cyclist came a cropper in the sanctity of his living room earlier this month.
The two-times Madison world champion, who won four stages of this year's Tour de France, was playing a snowboarding game on his Nintendo Wii when he slipped from the board and injured a calf muscle.
"It's a pain, but it's a minor injury in the off-season and not a huge problem," Cavendish told Cycling Weekly.
"I may have to visit a medic to try and get it sorted out, rather than heading for Tuscany as I'd planned."
Cavendish was forced to cut short a training session last week, but he is confident of joining the Columbia racing team when they convene in Majorca in December to begin preparation for the 2009 season.
