Middlesbrough are reportedly on the brink of sealing a £14million deal for striker Afonso Alves.
The 27-year-old Brazilian ace has been linked with the Teesside club for months now as he continues to star in Holland with Heerenveen.
And according to The Sun he's set to move to the Riverside Stadium despite interest from Manchester City.
The tabloid claims Alves has already agreed terms with Boro, and his signing would give boss Gareth Southgate a massive boost.
A source close to the player said: "Middlesbrough and the player have an agreement in place and the clubs also.
"There are a few other details to sort out but the player should be in England by the end of the week."
Alves was top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie last season with 34 goals and that strike rate earned him his first Brazil cap as well.
