Bond keeps Cherries' chins up

Sun 10 Feb, 05:30 PM

Kevin Bond urged his Bournemouth players not to let spirits drop after they climbed off the bottom of League One with a 4-1 thumping of Luton. The Cherries fell to the foot of the table on Friday after being deducted 10 points for entering administration.

But a brace from Jo Kuffour and one each from Sam Vokes and Max-Alain Gradel gave the south-coast outfit a convincing win over the Hatters.

Bond said: "In difficult times like this, first and foremost everybody needs to see the team give total commitment and to not feel sorry for themselves.

"That's what we did and we need to keep that going. If things don't go our way and we end up going down we need to be able to say that we kept our heads up and fought all the way.

"I have told the players not to get caught up in that either. Instead I have told them to think about the positives like this performance and concentrate on Tuesday's match (against Doncaster)."
