Who is your sporting hero?

Goran Ivanisevic. His just had an aura about him that was very easy to warm to, even though he wasn't the best player. That Wimbledon final when he beat Pat Rafter is one of my favourite all-time sporting moments.

What famous person would you like to meet?

I'm a keen golfer and I quite enjoy playing tennis, so to have a round of golf with Tiger Woods or just to knock up against someone like Roger Federer would be absolutely awesome.

Is there anyone you would like to have a go at?

I'm not into all these people off Big Brother and other reality shows, all those people who are famous for being famous.

What's been your most embarrassing moment?

Nothing terribly embarrassing. I've not had my shorts fall down when I've been on court or anything like that. I've had a couple of moments where my legs have gone through tiredness and I've been standing there like a baby deer on ice. But that hasn't happened for a while.

What food would you never eat?

I really hate liver and kidneys. I know they're supposed to be good for you, and I like to try things repeatedly to see if I like them but those are two things that I can't stand.

What word do you overuse?

Fantastic.

What's your favourite film?

Scarface. Recently, I really liked Taken, with Liam Neeson. That's a top quality film.

How long do you take to get ready in the morning?

That depends. If I know that the cameras are going to be there when I'm playing I might take a little bit longer than usual! But normally about two minutes. I never do my hair before training because it'll only be covered in sweat in 10 minutes anyway.

What's the first record you ever bought?

It was Five Star. That was my first memory of buying music. I also had a double cassette pack of Milli Vanilli, those guys who were caught out for miming the whole time.

What do you have on your iPod now?

I like Chris Brown's new album, I'm into a lot of R&B. I've started listening to a bit of jazz at home too. I find it quite relaxing, especially if I'm cooking or having friends round for dinner.

What would you take to a desert island with you?

My daughter. She's the most important person in my life.

What are your ambitions for the future?

Obviously London 2012 would be a perfect career-ending moment for me if I can first make the team and then be in good condition and have a clear goal at possibly medalling again. Outside of competition, myself and Gail (Emms, who partnered Robertson to World Championship gold and Olympic silver) have started a badminton master class coaching business, where we try to inspire and coach the best young kids in the country.

Nathan will be competing at the 2009 European Championships being held at the Echo Arena, Liverpool from February 10-15. Center Parcs is the official partner of Team England.
