Transfers - Gossip Shop: Becks move hitting snag

Eurosport - Tue, 10 Feb 07:26:00 2009

David Beckham's proposed permanent move to Milan from LA Galaxy could be hitting a snag.

FOOTBALL 2008-2009 Serie A Milan Beckham - 0

Milan are willing to pay a reasonable fee of around £6.7 million for Becks, who has been a revelation since his short-term loan started at the Rossoneri in January.

But Galaxy want a Manchester City-esque amount for a 33-year-old, speculated to be more than twice Milan's offer.

"We made an offer to Galaxy and they didn't accept it," Milan general manager Adriano Galliani told Sky Italia. "However, there's a willingness to talk between a party who's making an offer, which is Milan, and another who's evaluating it."

Galliani also praised Beckham's politeness and professionalism, although the examples of his good behaviour - cleaning his own kit, packing his own bags and "opening and closing the bottle of water and returning it, without throwing it away" - perhaps owe more to his obsessive compulsive disorder than being 'old school'.

Liverpool misfit Andrei Voronin is on loan at Hertha Berlin and could be set for a shock return to Anfield with the club desperately short of strikers following the sale of Robbie Keane.

"We want to have talks with Berlin quickly. I know my agent has been talking to Liverpool recently," Voronin said.

"I still have a contract at Anfield. They've just sold Robbie Keane. Up until he joined last summer, I was getting games for Liverpool.

"They have a shortage of strikers now. I would enjoy staying at Hertha. And even if I am not to stay on, I will give my very best until the very end."

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has called on Zamalek to decide just how much striker Amr Zaki is worth.

The 25-year-old is on loan from the Egyptian Premier League club, who are notorious for changing their demands from one day to the next.

"There will be a time when we ask Zamalek exactly what the price is," Bruce said. "It was £12m four months ago, at the start it might have been £6m.

"The ball is in their court: there will be dialogue."

Zaki has been a big hit at the JJB although his goals have dried up in the winter months so perhaps the revised price will be somewhat lower than when his stock was highest in the autumn.

Wigan are also chasing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michael Kightly in anticipation of Luis Antonio Valencia's summer exit.

Ecuador winger Valencia is expected to move to one of Europe's top clubs at the end of the season after both he and Wigan rejected a loan bid from Real Madrid in January.

Kightly, 23, has set the Championship alight with his displays for Wolves but the club are top of the table and likely to be playing Premier League football anyway next season.

One man who will be staying at Wolves is wide-man Matt Jarvis.

The 22-year-old former Gillingham player has signed a three-and-a-half year contract to stay at Molineux.

Michael Mancienne, who was on loan from Chelsea earlier in the season, is one man who will not come back to the Midlands: Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari wants to keep him as cover at Stamford Bridge.

  1. cyclope you are a fool. yes becks may be a little one dimensional, but he is a wonderful crosser and passer of the ball. he would add attacking options to any team in the world. your negative appraisal of him speaks volumes about your lack of footballing knowledge.

  2. Milan should pay LA for a season long loan - ending next season.
Becks will be 34 then, Milan get the last best of him, then he can make his money in the US.

Becks, give it all at the highest level while you still can!

L.A Galaxy will accept £1 million for Becky. L.A think £6.7 million is actually too much for this overrated 1dimension player. Hopefully A.C Milan understand it, lower the offer and the deal will go through. You can't rate a player that can't shoot with his left foot. Can you?

  4. I don't see Beckham returning to the Galaxy. He stated so clearly that he does not want to return to LA ; I don't see , how he can now be productive for the american club!

  8. comment 30 yes you are right as a player on the field considering his age beckham is worth around 6 mill but the galaxy are not being greedy as beckham is very valuable to the galaxy in terms of marketing and promotion so they will lose a lot of money by selling beckham and want to be compensated for it.

  10. how can that buffoon benitez sell robbie keane who is a proven premier league scorer, and then think about brining back voronin from a loan spell. benitez said that keane didn't fit in with their style of play, well then he should have adapted it slightly to get robbie in and scoring goals, something even the best in the orld cannot do if they are sitting on their backside at home watching on tele. i am a liverpool fan and we should do exactly what chelsea have done and SACK HIM, then get jose in before its too late.

  11. Phllip C comment #8 trying to be a smart @$$. In the contract he is on laon till june (but as we know they agreed for him to return in march) but because of the language and date of the loan in the contract Milan will be allowed to negotiate for him now and keep him even with the transfer window closed. NOW THAT YOU HAD UR LESSON GO BACK TO BED

  12. Beckham still has franchise worth and is a big celeb in tinsle town so the Galaxy are probably including this in their valuation, they did get well stiffed though, good to see

  15. Post # 13 v1nce9, I really wouldn't want someone who wears his wife's underwear to be a role model for MY kids any more than I would want Robbie Williams, who is not adverse to revealing his underwear to anyone who should be glancing in his direction, to be a role model. How you bring up your children is your affair but your standards are questionable.

  17. With more quality finishers and players around him Beckham plays better himself too... If he goes back to the US there won't be anybody to finish his passes ( with donovan gone to bayern).. Hope he stays at Milan and continues his good form.

  18. A reasonable fee? Whoever wrote that must be joking. MLS got completely stiffed in the Beckham circus, and they deserve much more than that. If Becks wants to stay in Milan so badly, let him cough up the money he rightfully owes the US. They expected to get something for their money, they should at least get a refund.

  19. Can I suggest that anyone on here a bit PC savvy, open up a command window (Start Run cmd [Enter])and type nslookup {that dating website].

This will give you the IP address of that site, which you will probably find matches other sites of the same kind. You can then use Whois to find out who owns the site, usually with an email address to send abuse email too. It would be a shame if that email address got signed up to some spam sites don't you think?

Just some helpful advice from someone sick of reporting this garbage to Yahoo and them doing nothing about it.
