Blackwell backing for Sharp

Mon 10 Mar, 06:15 PM

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell insists misfiring striker Billy Sharp remains firmly in his plans at Bramall Lane.Blackwell confirmed there had been enquiries from other clubs about Sharp, a summer signing from Scunthorpe who has scored only twice for the Blades this season.

Blackwell said: "We have had a few requests about Billy, but I feel he has a future at the Lane.

"He had his best game for the club at Plymouth and his workrate helped create the winning goal for James Beattie.

"I look at the situation up front and we aren't creating enough chances or providing the right service for him to thrive.

"The service hasn't been conducive to Billy's game, although I'm sure when he does score it will be the biggest cheer of the season from the crowd because he is a Blade through and through."
